A Nun of That!

“A Sister is a woman who knows how much God loves her, so she wants to spend the rest of her life letting other people know how much God loves them,” Sister Claire once explained to a child. And that’s exactly what she spent her life doing. Born in Marshfield, Massachusetts, “Peggy Ann” Hayes at age 16 joined the Congregation of the Sisters of Divine Providence, where she began her vocation as Sister Claire, working with joy and enthusiasm to let others know how much God loved them. Through her career she worked in education, corrections, pastoral ministry, and hospital chaplaincy. Her compassion, tireless energy, sense of humor, and ability to “be present” to those in need touched countless lives. She lives on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her, whether for a brief moment in time or a lifetime, and will continue to live on in the hearts of those who get to know her through this book. She would want you to know, in her words: “My vocation is the blessing of my life.”
